In the deepest corner of my being, the belief that what is destined for you will never pass you by has always remained alive, as does the idea that somewhere, beyond what is imaginable to the human mind, the universe arranges things for you with affection.
Perhaps this appears as invisible threads leading us toward certain people or opportunities. For me, it became a truth when confusion engulfed my life: I could not help feeling that something beyond our capabilities or knowledge moves in ways we cannot fully comprehend.
The term hopeless romantic has always carried my name. Since childhood, I have believed there was a reason certain things happened in a certain way, even when no evidence was visible. After bitter experiences, I sent desolate prayers to the sky. Still, I trusted that if something happened beyond my control, perhaps it was destined to be. Who was I to deny it?
“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
— The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho
When things do not unfold as planned, the soul can feel shattered and ask, quietly, why not me? But with time, I began to place small heaps of trust in a larger design unfolding in secret—one I would only understand later. My mother used to tell me, while combing my hair, that there is always something better waiting. Looking back now, I can see how parts of the puzzle made sense.
I have always had the habit of wanting to organise everything: projecting a hypothetical life before my eyes and preparing for every uncertainty life might throw at me. Perhaps it is my Virgo Moon, but I feel safer with a plan. Yet life has a way of demolishing even the most careful plans. So I learned to let go. I stopped gripping people and situations, trying to force them into what I wanted, because what is meant for you does not need to be forced.
Letting go is terrifying, but I have never felt anything so liberating. When you trust, fear begins to dissolve.
“When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
— Man’s Search for Meaning, Viktor E. Frankl
I believe that everything happens for a reason. What you desire may take time, patience and trust, but it will find its way back to you. More than anything, that thought is what keeps me alive.
